How to get here?

We are quite easy to find, so long as you approach us from the main A52 road and don't try to come through the “lanes”.

Approach 01

From Stoke-on-Trent

Take the A52 towards Ashbourne. After about 8 miles, there is a petrol station on your right, where you should take care to continue on the A52 by turning left.

Carry on for another 3 miles, going down a long hill until you come to Froghall on the valley floor. Take the second road on the left signposted to Foxt and follow this road for 600 yards.

This will take you through the Froghall Wharf picnic site (scattering of roadside buildings), over the canal bridge, and we are immediately on the left.

Approach 02

From Derby

Take the A52 towards Ashbourne and then on towards Stoke-on-Trent. About 4 miles past Ashbourne, you should be careful to follow the A52, which branches off left.

Follow this road for a further 6 or 7 miles through Whiston and descend a very steep hill. Just before the bottom of the hill, turn sharp right, signposted for Foxt (don't be confused by an earlier turn-off for Foxt before Whiston) and follow this road for 600 yards.

This will take you through the Froghall Wharf picnic site and Hetty's Teashop, over the canal bridge, and we are immediately on the left.

Before you set off

A word about sat navs

Enter ST10 2HJ — Foxt Road, Froghall. Some sat navs will show this as an un-named road, and others will send you to the next road along, Ipstones Road (B5053). Even ours struggles to find its way home.

Public Transport

Buses

We're struggling a little with bus services in our area now — timetables change at short notice. Check local services on First Bus or D&G Buses for the 32 service from Hanley (the main bus station for Stoke-on-Trent) to Cheadle, sometimes via Kingsley.

Trains

Check journeys and fares on Trainline. For a day out rather than a way in, the Churnet Valley Railway runs steam services from Froghall station, a short walk from the cottages.
